Configuring WSFTP

Double click on:

  • WS_FTP (for Windows 3.1)
  • WS_FTP32 or WSFTP Pro (for Windows 95)

In the screenshot below, we are attempting to connect the ftp server on Simply Internet (www.inetworld.net). Fill in the ftp server that you want to connect to in the Host Name: field.
Eg. If you want to connect to ftp.netscape.com, type in ftp.netscape.com in the Host: field.

newt-ftp

If you have a username and password to the ftp server that you are trying to connect to, fill in your username in the User ID: field and your password in the Password: field. If you don't know if you have a username or password, you probably don't.  If you do not have a username and password and would like to connect to the ftp server anonymously, check the Anonymous Login box. If you have a default directory that you want to view, fill in the directory name in the Initial Directory/Remote Host: field.

Click OK and you will then be connected to the ftp server.

Select the files that you want to upload and then select Put File. Select the files that you want to download and then select Get File. Make sure to transfer the files according to its file type. This is usually BINARY.
